Dolphin

A few days back I updated to macOS Ventura.

Everything is running solid so far however I'm on holidays so I'm not doing much coding. The true test will be when I go back to work.

What didn't work which is minor in the scheme of things is GameCube games on OpenEmu. They simply don't open. I think the reason for this is the version of Dolphin OpenEmu uses is really outdated now.

I therefore decided to bite the bullet and install the latest version of Dolphin itself on my Mac.

Overall Dolphin is a better emulation experience. Despite the ugly UI for its game library and controller selection Dolphin has way more features over OpenEmu for GameCube.

You can fast forward games and you have save states.

The games themselves also seem to run a tad smoother.

One weird setting that I did need to change (and had to Google for) was the graphics setting.

By default the graphics API being used was Vulkan which runs poorly on macOS. Once I switched this setting across to Metal games ran well.
