What a magical three months. Uluwatu lived up to its reputation for being an amazing place to surf, get fit and eat awesome food.
I honestly can't believe the 3 months is done. It feels like a dream. It feels weird being back in my own home in Melbourne.
Some general thoughts on Indonesia/Bali:
- The service quality is absolutely the best in the world, every restaurant or venue you go to the people are friendly, professional and make sure you have an amazing experience
- Finding a cheap/safe (from a food preparation perspective) Indonesian food venue is absolutely critical for the experience, we had an awesome place where we had lots of lunches and dinners for the month whilst we were in Balangan, but we lacked this kind of venue in Canggu
- The ocean water is like a bath, I don't think there's any better place in the world to truely lock in to surfing and really get better at it, it's just sad when it rains and there's lots of trash floating in the water
- The dogs, chickens and cows roaming free in Balangan were so cute, it's such a peaceful place compared to somewhere more built up like Canggu
- I love riding scooters, I've said it a few times on the blog but it just feels so nice to have wind blowing in your face as you travel around
- I've never seen a higher concentration of really fit people than what I saw at Bambu Fitness
- Groceries in Bali were incredibly expensive which we didn't really expect, we went to Bintang, Pepito and Nirmala and it was always super expensive to do a normal shop like we would in Melbourne, this really encouraged us to eat out more which worked out to be cheaper than actually cooking at home for the most part
- The weather can be absolutely perfect in November even though it's close to the rainy season
- The start time for work really did work well (7AM) as I had so much spare time in the afternoon to do things, even more time given that we didn't need to cook or do chores
