This week I've started playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Nght. Here are some initial thoughts:
- I'm really enjoying the game so far but it is challenging, I was finding it so tricky I resorted to searching for a guide, I found this official game guide which is absolutely beautiful, it's sad these kinds of guides don't exist anymore, the guide reminds me of what Tunic has in game
- I found the controls confusing at first, just the basic like equipping weapons, handling sub weapons and casting spells is all pretty confusing, to cast a spell is literally like a Grand Theft Auto cheat code
- I can see how it greatly influenced games like Hollow Knight in terms of music and art style, and of course the Metroidvania game mechanics
- It's a classic old game in that you must save, if you forget to save you'll find yourself in scenarios where all of your progress is lost, this limitation almost makes the game more fun though
