I'm around 20% of the way through playing Hogwarts Legacy on Switch. I have some thoughts:
- The game solid, I went in with lowish expectations but I'm having a lot of fun
- The combat is really well designed, it's a tricky system to master, there's lots of different ways in which you can cast spells and defend yourself, this is really the main reason why I'm enjoying the game
- The story so far is pretty weak, it's just not that interesting
- The tutorial was also not great, it was a bit too hand holdy
- The game runs very poorly on the Switch which I expected, there's long load times (often 20-30 seconds), lag and bugs, I encountered a bug earlier where I was mid mission and I just couldn't progress, I had to close and restart the game for the mission to actually have a next task
- This is the exact reason why we needed an upgraded Switch ~2 years ago, games like this should run better
- I think having now experienced 2 amazing Zelda RPGs on Switch makes certain aspects of other third party RPGs feel crap, things like jumping, climbing, accessing new parts of the map, fluidly completing tasks, collecting items etc, all of these aspects feel better in Zelda
