Mac Gaming Fails

In the last few weeks I've tried a few different approaches to playing Windows based games on my Mac.

I initially was interested in testing out the Game Porting Toolkit and downloaded Whisky as the app to wrap Wine.

I installed the app and then was able to get the Windows version of Steam working as a bottle. I wanted to play Skyrim and followed these instructions to get things working properly.

I followed this wiki but just couldn't get things working smoothly. I had audio issues and the frame rate stuttered.

I basically just want to install my game and play it when it comes to this sort of stuff. Tinkering around with Winetricks is just not something I want to do in my downtime.

My other gaming "experience" on the Mac I tried was using the Xbox Cloud Gaming (Game Pass) platform.

This is clearly the future of gaming and the whole setup was extremely seamless. It's also in my opinion pretty affordable for the amount of games you get access to.

I tried playing EA Sports PGA Tour in spirit of The Masters coming up this week.

The game unfortunately ran like crap. The controls were very sluggish and the lag between button press and seeing action in game just wasn't playable.

It's a shame and to be fair might be more my Wi-Fi's problem and not Xbox.

Back to the Nintendo Switch we go.

The next two games I'm going to play through are Tunic and Super Metroid.
