I got a new pair of AirPods Pro (2nd Generation lightning) yesterday.
It was a sad ending to my old set of AirPods. I was at the airport and the case slipped out of a pocket in my jacket. The pods themselves spilled out of the case onto the floor into a busy area with lots of foot traffic and of course they were stepped on.
One pod works but the other one plays an annoying static like sound. Not ideal.
The new AirPods were purchased from Best Buy. Here's the currency conversion:
AirPods Pro
$210.59 USD
$328.93 AUD
I saw the same AirPods advertised at JB Hi-Fi yesterday for $350 AUD so I certainly haven't saved much money but at least I'll have AirPods on all my flights back to Australia.
What I immediately notice about the new generation of AirPods is the improved sound quality and noise cancellation.
I was watching a random YouTube video when I first tried on the new AirPods and there was a song being played in the background. The bass of the song came through with so much clarity that I was almost a little surprised. It is 100% a noticeable difference.
I'm currently sitting on a plane typing this with my AirPods in and they're blocking out the plane sound extremely well. It's just has way stronger noise cancellation.
Apple has done a great job with the AirPod line for years now. I'm a very happy customer.
Note: Best Buy didn't have the newest AirPods Pro (2nd Generation USB-C). I'm not too sad I didn't get those as I'll still have a lightning phone for a while.
