Lately most of my bad holes playing in competitions have been on par 5s.
I need to try a new strategy with them.
This will be:
- 7 iron off the tee, be in play
- 2x 8 irons off the deck, be in play
This should give me a full 60 degree or sand wedge into the green which I know I can hit well.
At worst I need to limit myself to a double. At best I can still make par or bogey.
The harder par 4s on the course (5, 9, 14, 15) I can also play with this strategy.
I need to be basically automatic with 7 iron off the tee and never be out of play. This is a doable goal.
