Last night I finished the first temple in TOTK. I've played around 8 hours.
Here are some rapid fire thoughts on the game:
- It's 100% a sequel to BOTW, if you didn't like that game it's unlikely you'll enjoy this one
- The ultrahand mechanic makes for some really fun puzzles and gameplay, there's so many different contraptions that you can build with it
- The sky islands you start off at are somewhat challenging to progress from, it takes a good amount of time and patience
- To reach the first temple (in the sky) was an amazing gaming experience, was fun using the ascend mechanic to slowly climb higher and higher
- As I went to a cold area first I had to grind for a while to collect enough things to sell and then get the cold weather clothes
- The first temple boss was also pretty fun, wasn't a huge challenge but took a couple of tries to progress
- There seems to be way more arrows in this game, in boxes and just lying around
- The underworld seems scary, I went into one area but haven't explored it enough yet to make any comment
- The addition of caves makes the original Hyrule so much more interesting
- Fusing things to weapons is fun, definitely takes a bit to remember how to do it, with swords you kind of need to plan ahead and make strong fuse weapons before going into battle
- The story is so far better and less clique than BOTW
