Design At 99

This weeks sprint topic in the JEP was design. We initially conducted a workshop that focussed on design thinking and the double diamond. I also did some reading on UX and UI as well as some more reading into the double diamond.

The double diamond is the biggest concept to take out of these two pieces and makes sense. The two sides are broken into refining the problem and refining the prototype. You get all the ideas in and then refine.

I also read a piece on how to responsibly discuss mockups with designers if you disagree on something. I resonated with this:

To avoid this, you need to avoid the trope of the engineer who says: "No. X can’t be done for technical reasons. You wouldn’t understand." And in order to avoid that trope, you simply present the info in a way that any non-technical person would understand with ease.

Present the things that will hurt business value like the loss of X hours of your time.
