Experience With Selling Mac

In the past week I sold my MacBook Pro 16 Inch (2019). I used the trade in your device service that Apple provides in Australia which is through the third party provider Brightstar.

I got $2260 back from an original purchase of $3479. I'm pretty happy with this considering the ease in which it was to sell it. I literally didn't have to leave the house, take any pictures or reply to messages from people on an online marketplace.

The use of the computer equated to $1219 which is $110 per month. I used it for work almost everyday throughout this period so that I think is a fair amount.

The resell-able nature of Mac's have to be one of their biggest advantages. It's awesome that you can get anything back for a device that you've used for months almost everyday.

The question then becomes:

What will I buy from Apple with the credit?

I have all the things I need right now but I'll likely eventually spend the credit on:

  1. A new iPhone, my current iPhone XR is now almost at the 2 year mark (purchased 15th July 2019), it's still working great but it will eventually need to be replaced
  2. A new iMac, I would love to have a powerful iMac for home with a big screen but this is a long term purchase
  3. A new iPad, I watch a lot of videos and just generally browse the web on my Mac and iPhone but an iPad is the ideal device for this
  4. A new Apple Watch, my girlfriend has an Apple Watch and she loves it, would be handy for listening to music on the go and tracking workouts

I think what else I've learnt from this experience is that a 13 inch laptop is the right size for me. I like moving my laptop around and bringing it places. The 16 inch is just too big.
