My Twenties

This is a list of images from each year in my 20s with a bit of description. I want to keep it simple and do 1 photo a year which is ideally a portrait.

2013 (20)

I went off the rails a bit. I went on a road trip from Cairns to Byron Bay with some mates driving and sleeping in a van for 2 weeks. I got in trouble with the police for taking a sign off a fence. I failed a university subject.

2014 (21)

This photo is taken at my mums house the night of my 21st. I started taking my degree a bit more seriously but I hated what I was studying. I went out a lot. I drank too much. I went to Europe with some mates for a month.

2015 (22)

I was dating my first real girlfriend. I deferred from the 1st semester of university and worked at BWS. I went to London to visit my girlfriend for around 2 months. I finished university at the end of 2015.

2016 (23)

I was pretty lost and unsure with what to do with myself when university finished. My uncle gave me a great opportunity to be an intern at his company in the USA. I lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I became more independent.

2017 (24)

I finished my trip in the USA. I had an amazing time visiting some of the best national parks there in the summer. I was again pretty lost life and career wise when I got home. I went on Centrelink.

2018 (25)

In March I started the Le Wagon coding bootcamp. I did that for 3 months. I struggled to finish the course. I sucked at coding. It was a risk as I paid the money up front to do the bootcamp. I finished the bootcamp and worked at Siemens for 3 months as an intern in HR. I hated that job. I managed to find a job working at another coding bootcamp called Coder Academy which started in August. This is when things started to click into place and I got better as a programmer.

2019 (26)

I was loving my job at Coder Academy. This is when I started to get my life together. The one thing I longed for was companionship. I really wanted to have a girlfriend.

2020 (27)

Me and Emma flirted the night of her 23rd birthday in February. We hit it off and started dating. Being in love was amazing. Then the pandemic hit. It was life changing and depressing. Me and Emma dating wise went really well though. We spent so much time together locked down. This photo was taken at the end of the year when we went on a big road trip around Victoria together.

2021 (28)

I stopped my teaching job at Coder Academy and moved in to the software engineering industry. I worked at 99designs. This photo was taken on a walk where me and Emma decided we wanted to save money and buy a house together.

2022 (29)

I left 99designs. I started working at Mr Yum. Me and Emma bought a house together and we got our first dog Boots. So much changed this year. Me and Emma's relationship went from strength to strength.

2023 (30)

I turned 30. It was basically the year of raising Boots and figuring out how I'd ask Emma to marry me. I asked her on our trip to the USA in September.

Parkdale To Mentone

Boots had an eventful day yesterday.

He started his day with a nice walk from Parkdale to Mentone. He got lots of ball throws into the ocean and the sand.

He then went up to another border collie (in a nice friendly manner) at the off leash dog beach near the Mentone life saving club and the dog tried to bite Boots. It was a classic case of a reactive border collie.

Boots then had to have a bath when we got home which he's always sad about.

After the bath he was acting a bit weird and groaning. Turns out he had a sore tummy and did a mega poop.

He then laid on our couch all afternoon drying off and sulking.

AFL Season Gets Weird#youtube.com

This is now just getting weird. Swans lose by over 100. Carlton may not play finals. Dogs look to be in the box seat.

Flick Pass#afl.com.au

I had no idea that the flick pass was legal for over 50 years.

From the official AFL rule changes (1858-2022) document:

1966

June 2: Flick pass outlawed. Ball had to be struck with a clenched fist.

I wonder why players chose to use a flick pass over a handball.
