Number Of Beers#tiktok.com

I feel like 3-4 beers is the sweet spot for me. You're in for a good night but no hangovers. Hangovers kill me these days.

Helix Editor#docs.helix-editor.com

Whilst it's likely I'll never be as fast at editing code with a vim like editor such as Helix compared to VSCode I think it could be a fun thing to learn.

The tutor mode in Helix is solid and I've been able to setup a basic environment for doing anything TypeScript related using this config. I just had to edit my ~/.config/helix/languages.toml file and install all the dependencies globally with npm.

I can then run

hx --health typescript

to confirm everything is working.

Using Helix plus lazygit is a really nice development environment especially for my own personal projects.

Where Do AFL Players Come From#maphub.net

This is a nice data visualisation of where AFL players come from in terms of their junior clubs.

The Bayside suburb teams have a lot of representation.

Vision Pro Next Steps#spyglass.org

I like this quote from the Gurman article:

There may be lessons here from the Apple Watch. When that product debuted, it wasn’t clear why someone would need it. The watch was more of a novelty item or fashion accessory that could receive digital love taps from other users. Then Apple refocused on health, fitness tracking and communication, and the appeal was much clearer.

Perhaps Apple could do something similar with the Vision Pro. Rather than being a jack-of-all-trades, the headset could concentrate on video watching, FaceTime and serving as a Mac external monitor.

The company should abandon the idea that people are going to fall in love with third-party apps (something that hasn’t happened with the watch or Apple TV) or that the Vision Pro needs to be a full-fledged computer.

That could help Apple refine its sales pitch, at least until the more mainstream products are ready.

Having a more focussed product is 100% what's needed. Otherwise it's going to be a potential failure for Apple.

Travel Advice#dynomight.net

Some good general advice.

The human, after drinking liquids, must pee. So if you’re about to go somewhere where peeing is impossible, maybe don’t drink a lot of liquids.

Despite being only 0.3% of the world’s population, Australians seem to make up 10% of overseas visitors everywhere on the planet. Do not be disturbed by this well-known optical illusion.

A restaurant in some out-of-the-way neighborhood will likely pursue a make customers happy strategy. But a cafe across the street from the Colosseum will probably use a get people in the door strategy—no matter how good the food is, most people will never come back, so resources invested in making them happy after they’ve committed to pay are “wasted”. Don’t blame them, blame the remorseless market forces they’re trying to survive under.

Play The Whites#tiktok.com

This kind of thinking should be much more prevalent with all golfers; especially new golfers.

If I could I'd play all my rounds from the white tees but there's always a bit of pressure to play from the longer blue tees especially in competition rounds.
