This is massive news for the school. In an email all former students received the school said:
On behalf of Caulfield Grammar School (CGS), we are pleased to announce that CGS and Shelford Girls’ Grammar (Shelford) have entered into a formal agreement to merge the two schools, with (conditional) completion scheduled for 31 December 2023.
While the merger will necessarily involve an integration of Shelford into CGS, Shelford will continue normal school operations in 2024 as a single-sex Prep to Year 12 school led by Principal, Pauline Cutajar. An integration committee, with an equal number of CGS and Shelford representatives, will be established to assist with the implementation of the merger and the smooth and supportive transition of Shelford students up until the end of the 2024 academic year.
In 2025, Shelford students and staff will be integrated into CGS’ co-educational environments. The integration will prioritise Shelford students’ welfare and the quality of their learning experience, as well as incorporate Shelford’s strong culture and preserve the school’s proud legacy.
CGS plans to repurpose the current Shelford school site for the 2026 academic year, but we are yet to decide on the operating model for the site
My dream idea: turn the area into sports fields.
Caulfield needs some high quantity soccer pitches closer to the main school. It also lacks tennis and basketball courts. A second footy/cricket ground as backup to the main ground also wouldn't go astray.
A cross country track around the whole perimeter of the fields; now we're getting crazy.
