Goodbye iPod#daringfireball.net

The iPod Mini was my first personal computer and the first Apple product I ever owned. I don't know the exact date I received it but if I was to guess probably around Christmas 2005.

Its design and functionality were so elegant. It was such a cool little gadget.

The iPod was a huge part of my high school experience. I can still remember people checking out the songs on my iPod Mini in year 7. It was a real "look at me I'm cool" kind of thing.

I then had a red iPod Nano 4th generation that I must have received at some point in 2008-2009. This was a beautiful little device and was special to me as I was getting more into music.

It was also a time where everyone was using Limewire and subsequently The Pirate Bay to download music. Using these apps were a gateway into what computers were capable of. It was exciting and it's definitely a reason for why I still love computers today.

My last gifted iPod was an iPod Touch. I think I received this sometime in 2010.

What an awesome introduction this was into iOS. Before getting an iPod Touch I remember being insanely jealous of my friends with iPhone's playing cool games like Flight Control and Fruit Ninja. With an iPod Touch I had access to the app store and I was able to try and match my friends high scores.

My only current working iPod is an iPod Classic which I purchased with my own money in 2013. It was a time where I was "too cool" for the emerging streaming services and I wanted to be a hipster uni kid with my iPod and CD collection.

I'm so glad I still have a couple of iPod's in my possession. I'd honestly love to get a bit of a collection going.

In some way's the iPod inspired me to get into computers and become a bit of an Apple fanboy.
