I've finally started hitting my 3 wood consistently off the tee.

My swing thought with both the 3 wood and hybrid recently is

which basically is coca on the takeaway and cola on the downswing.

I think often I get too quick and this leads to wayward contact.

\n

If my grip is solid and tempo is good it usually leads to decent results.

\n

The 3 wood at the end of the day has a much bigger club head and is easier to make contact with off the tee. I also get about 20-30 metres more on good swing compared to hybrid which really helps on the longer holes.

In the last few weeks I'd been working on a fully vibe coded app for storing my tasks.

It has a React Native mobile app and an Electron mac app. It works okay but the UI is a bit buggy.

What I'm thinking of trying next is creating an MCP to store my tasks and then just interface with Claude directly for the frontend.

This could be a fun little project as I'll learn about how to create my own MCP server.

I think for a task app it could be pretty nice. It obviously has a few downsides compared to a full app (like offline support) but overall it should work okay. It's a good use case for my VPS as well.

I recently re-watched all of Halt and Catch Fire and loved it. It truly is a must watch for any person in tech. About a week ago I picked up Nine Sols. It had good reviews and wanted to give it a go. The game is flawed in many ways but damn the combat is fantastic as the reviews stated. It really feels amazing to do some nice parrying on a powerful enemy. The bosses so far (I've only done 2) are brilliant as well. The music is solid and the art is beautiful.

The down side is that it doesn't run great on the Switch 1. It's getting to the point now where games aren't coming out on the Switch and performance is an issue. I feel like I'll need to upgrade soon. I'm also not a huge fan of the amount of dialogue. The story is okay but I just don't really care about it as yet.

This week I've learnt (accepted?) something about my golf game.

My 4-hybrid is a weapon off the tee. Even if I lose 30 metres of distance I find I can hit 90% of fairways throughout a good round.

\n

It tends to put me in a decent spot to at least make my par score on every hole on the course.

\n

My current technique really doesn't suit hitting woods. I really need lessons and constant practice to get better. I'm just too streaky and don't have the confidence I need.

\n

I enjoy the freedom the hybrid off the tee gives me and I can constantly play stress-free golf.

\n

I know I can break 80 with my hybrid off the tee technique.

\n

I usually hit my irons good enough.

\n

Where I can still be a bit poor is with the putter. If I can practice my putting and chipping and gain a few strokes there I'm in really good shape.

\n

Maybe this is getting some gear like the Why Golf Putter Thing and hitting a bunch of putts on the practice green at the club. There is a practice chipping area as well and using it more often would probably be a smart thing to do.

I just don't really love practice. I way prefer being out there and having at least a 9-hole round.

Another fantastic sports bizarre this week with the story of the Burns Johnson fight. The fact the fight took place in Sydney and had such an impact on world sport is pretty amazing. Johnson was an amazing man and clearly was one of the best boxers of all time.

I also love the history of Sydney Stadium. What an atmosphere it would have been like to see a band or any boxing match here. Shame it wasn't kept in that location.

In the last few days I've been vibe coding an outliner app based on this idea I had a few weeks back.

I played a bunch of Mina the Hollower over the weekend and the game has really clicked for me now. I'm about 70% of the way through. There was definitely a decent learning curve. I've also relied a bunch on guides, but it really has been great overall!

Last night I found out the hard way that Plex can be a bit dodgy on Tizen based TVs.

I might also install Emby server and the client app on my TV as a backup just in case for these situations. I assume the library should just work the same. I wanted to install Jellyfin but sadly their Tizen client isn't available in the app store.

I also realised that on macOS the native Plex client is trash; you're actually better off using the web app at app.plex.tv.
